FAQs
What is the commissioning process?
Usually I will setup an initial chat, in person or online, to see what you are looking for and if I might be a good fit. Then I do some research into the topic or themes, before completing a first draft for feedback. After this we can explore recording and performance possibilities together.
What instruments do I write for?
I am comfortable writing for all orchestral instruments, and those commonly found in popular music. If you are interested in commissioning a work for a specific instrument or performer that is also a possibility.
How do I price commissions?
Each piece is priced based on length and how many parts it requires. A simple choral piece could be between £300 and £400 for three to four minutes of music.
How sustainable is the paper used?
All of my scores are printed on recycled, uncoated paper, from Mixam.
Can I perform pieces I purchase on this website?
Yes, anything you purchase on my site I am happy for you to perform - please do let me know as I would love to attend or listen to recordings. Please tag my instagram @fraser_macd and credit my full name Fraser David Macdonald (b.2001).
Can I make copies of the digital scores?
Yes, although consider purchasing multiple PDFs if you are making lots of copies. I understand the struggles of choir finances, so please contact me if you would like a batch discount on paper copies.
